London, UK, October 17, 2008 - Hizb ut Tahrir Britain held a Press Conference in Central London yesterday to announce the launch of its upcoming UK wide campaign against America’s undeclared war on Pakistan. The Press Conference was attended by members from the media and the Pakistani community in the UK.

Qasim Khawaja, member of the Executive Committee of Hizb ut Tahrir Britain, explained that the campaign would seek to expose that America had initiated an undeclared war and that Pakistan was the new target in the war on Terror. He also noted the dubious role being played by the new Pakistani regime in actively co-operating with America in attacking and killing its own people in Pakistan. The campaign would seek to galvanise public opinion in the Pakistani diaspora to raise their voices against America’s undeclared war and the continued betrayal by the Pakistani regime led by Asif Ali Zardari. Qasim explained that this campaign would utilise all styles of political campaigning in order to disseminate this vital message throughout the Pakistani community in the UK. Qasim explained that the UK based Pakistani community has a vital role to play to prevent an escalation of the American attack on Pakistan.

The Press Conference also read out a statement in Urdu and English entitled “O people of Nusrah! Pledge your allegiance to Hizb ut-Tahrir so as to establish the Khilafah and banish America and her agents from Pakistan” that was distributed to the general public throughout Pakistan on 23rd September 2008 by Hizb ut Tahrir Pakistan. This statement addressed America’s increasing aggression towards Pakistan. It also exposed the policies of the Zardari regime as a continuation of Pervez Musharraf’s failed agenda in co-operating with America and explained the cowardice also shown by General Ashfaq Kayani in failing to deploy the army to prevent American attacks. The statement called upon the people of power in Pakistan to establish the Khilafah as the only way to ward off American aggression.

Thereafter followed a lively question and answer session between the audience and Hizb ut Tahrir’s panellists’. A member of the audience asked how the Khilafah could save Pakistan. Tauseef Zahid, member of Hizb ut Tahrir, explained that the Khilafah would bring about a complete change in the political system of Pakistan. Tauseef said both dictatorship and democracy had failed Pakistan for the last sixty years and it was time to implement Islam, the actual reason behind Pakistan’s creation.

Atif Salahuddin, chair of the Press Conference, explained how the Khilafah would tackle the severe economic crisis confronting Pakistan. Atif said that the current international trading system is not in favour of Pakistan as Pakistanis had to give their sweat and blood to earn dollars which are easily created by America turning on it’s printing press. The current global financial crisis also showed that the West has no solution to offer as it is facing a severe crisis itself. Pakistan has only suffered for the last sixty years under its domination. The Khilafah would liberate the Muslims of Pakistan from this continued exploitation by the West and bring stability and prosperity by adopting the Islamic economic system.

In response to another question Tauseef Zahid said that the time was ripe for the Khilafah as America has been exposed as being weak by her failures in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is why Russia dealt a severe blow to America’s plans in Georgia and America could not do anything. Qasim Khawaja explained that this was why America is actually trying to weaken Pakistan by creating a civil conflict in Pakistan, as America could not hope to attack Pakistan directly and it was seeking to create a perception of Pakistan becoming a failed state so that it can legitimise it’s intervention in the affairs of Pakistan.
